North Pole Express: By the Rio Grande Railroad

Our adventure started at the Depot in Alamosa, CO. We picked up our tickets for the North Pole Express and received candy canes and STAMPED post cards! What a great souvenir!

When the train pulled up, it was all decked out for the holidays. Our two elves made us comfy and cozy with steaming cups of hot cocoa (complete with whipped cream and green sugar) and delicious cookies (the only variety available were oatmeal raisin...if your kids are not a fan, I would stash a chocolate chip cookie in your purse)! YUM!!! Once everyone was settled in our car, we were off to the North Pole! A merry caroler joined us in our car. She sang a couple of songs solo, and then invited all the kids to join her in the back for Christmas carols. My girls had a great time singing along.

The conductor came through the car and punched the first letter of the ticket holder into the tickets.

\
We arrived at the North Pole and picked up Santa. On the way back to the station, Santa came through the train. Everyone was greeted with a HO HO HO! Santa and his elves passed out a silver bell to each passenger (I could hear mine, because I BELIEVE!) and listed to Christmas wishes.

When we returned to the Depot, there was a spot set up for the kids to visit with Santa one more time. The girls brought copies of The Polar Express for Santa to sign.

The girls told me they had a FANTASTIC time...and have already asked if we can return again next year. That would definitely be two thumps up from this crowd!

The Polar Express runs on Friday and Saturday at 6pm now until December 22nd.

*My family received tickets to enjoy the train, but the opinions expressed are my own.

North Pole Express

Just like a storybook coming to life, our North Pole Express is for those who believe in the magic of the holidays. Climb aboard in your PJ's, find your seat in our heated cars and have the conductor punch your ticket . Jolly elves serve cocoa and cookies as your journey begins to the North Pole to meet Santa. On board, he will greet each child and deliver a silver sleigh bell. On the return ride, Christmas stories and a holiday sing-a-long will keep the mood festive. Anderson Farms

Last weekend we took the family to Anderson Farms in Erie. We had SOO much fun! You could spend the ENTIRE day here with all the activities. Our first stop was the peddle cars. Can I just say, I want one of these? They would be so much fun to drive around on the trails by our house!

Then, the girls were off the the barrel cars. They had a great time being pulled by a tractor around and around in circles...I would have gotten dizzy!

Next, it was time for the corn maze. But, Anderson Farms corn maze is not your average run of the mill corn maze...it is interactive! We chose to do the teepee maze, which is the location of the Farm Scene Investigation. You see, Farmer Brown is missing and one of the farm animals is to blame. It is your job to figure out who did, what weapons they used, and what location Farmer Brown was snatched from. Along the maze there are several checkpoints where you punch your card. We had a blast making guesses (mostly wrong) and discovering who the real culprits were.

We then headed over to see the gourd launching. The gourd launcher is pictured above and it can shoot a gourd a REALLY long ways!

The girls had such a great time at Anderson Farms, they would love to go back every weekend! If you have older kids, you have to check out the Zombie Paint Ball hunt. Each of the 20 people on the wagon are equipped with paint ball equipment. It is your job to save the wagon before the Zombies take over! My eldest daughter would love this! It is great if you would like to try doing paint ball without actually getting shot at!

Anderson Farms is open everyday from now until Halloween. Check out their website HERE to find out hours and admission prices.

Come See Colorado's Longest-Running Corn Maze - Take a hayride out to the pumpkin patch on a wagon pulled by an antique Oliver tractor. We have pumpkins as far as the eye can see! Get Lost in our 30 acre corn maze! The maze is open day and night and is never haunted. Plus the whole family will enjoy Pumpkin Launching, Mine Cars, Barrel Train, Farm Animals, Kiddie Korral, Pedal Karts, Gem Mining, Private Campfires, Hay Bale Maze and the World's Largest Cornucopia. For the more adventurous crowd, check out Terror in the Corn and Zombie Paintball Hunt. 6728 County Road 3 1/4 • Erie, CO 80516

Do you guys remember last year when we went on vacation? And our van decided to hemorrhage oil on our way up the mountains as we headed to California? GREAT  start to vacation.

Well, tonight Chance stopped at the grocery store on the way home...and the Yaris wouldn't start. Chance said, "Thank goodness it was not when I was downtown."

My thought was, "Thank goodness it didn't happen when we were half-way to Odessa, TX!" Which is where we will be driving the Yaris in 5 weeks...guess we should get the Yaris serviced before then.
